Ricky Lane Mathis

Ricky Lane Mathis, age 65, of Cumming passed away July 13, 2023. He was born July 18, 1957, was a lifelong resident of the Coal Mountain Community and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Ricky was an entrepreneur, and for many years he worked for the Forsyth County Government prior to retiring. Ricky placed a lot of value on his many friends over the years. He had four grandchildren that he adored.  

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Dalton Jewell Williams; his mother and father, Opal Martin Mathis, and Jewell John Mathis, Jr.; along with his brother-in-law, Andy Ward.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jill J. Mathis; daughter, Kristin M. Woodall (Jody W. Woodall) of Cumming, Georgia; son, Rev. Dustin B. Mathis (Candace Fowler Mathis) of Dawsonville, Georgia; grandchildren, Sophia Darnell, Caden Mathis, Emmalyn Mathis, and Kody Woodall; sister, Deborah Ward; brother-in-law, Wade Sewell (Sharon Freeman); sister-in-law, Patricia Watson (Dennis Watson), Hilda Hammond (Roger Hammond); and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with many other relatives. 

Funeral services for Ricky Mathis will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Watson, Rev. Dusty Holtzclaw, Rev. Craig Richard, and Rev. Ruel Martin officiating. The Mathis family will be accepting friends on Sunday, July 16, 2023, from 11:00 AM to the time of service.
