Robert Calhoun Burkholder, Jr., 92, of Cumming, GA, formerly of Lynchburg and Richmond, VA, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran in World War II, he was a graduate of the University of Virginia. Following a career as a Civil Engineer, a part of which was in Aruba and Nigeria, he lived in Winchester, VA and Richmond, VA where he founded Metro Richmond Paving Company. He is preceded in death by his brother, Frank Lee Burkholder. Survivors include his wife, Betty Burkholder; children, Jana (Rob) Moorman of Westport, CT, Robert (Judy) Burkholder of Sandy Springs, GA, Melissa Burkholder of Savannah, GA, Paul (Ann) Burkholder of Winchester, VA; Step-children, Karl (Kimberly) Funderburg of Cumming, GA, Kurt Funderburg of Oxford, NC, Gretchen (Cy) McCue of Sunset Beach, NC; sister, Margaret Bohrer of Lynchburg, VA; 5 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 24, at 2:00 p.m. at The Villas at Canterfield. The family will gather for another service at a later date in Lynchburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
