Robert D. Nicholas (Bob), 83, of Cumming, GA, passed away on September 29th at home in Cumming.
Bob was born Martinsville, IN to Mr. & Mrs. Otho Nicholas on September 4, 1938. He started school in Wilkinson, IN, but graduated from Knightstown High School in 1956. He also graduated from Tri State (Trine) University in Angola, IN in 1961. Bob was a proud member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity during his college days. Bob married the love of his life Jean (Morgan) on December 28, 1976 while living in the Chicago area. Bob and Jean eventually relocated to Marietta, GA in 1986 and subsequently moved to Cumming in 2001. He started his career in the trucking business, but spent most of his working days with Glidden Paint Company in various positions. Bob retired from Glidden in 1992 as Southeast Regional Sales Director and specialized in industrial powder coatings. After his Glidden career, Bob was self-employed as a regional sales consultant for industrial powder coatings throughout the southeast region of the US. He continued a successful, active sales career until fully retiring a few years ago. Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed many decades playing rounds with his family and friends. He loved to fish, was an avid NASCAR fan, and loyal attendant of the Indianapolis 500 race for nearly 50 years. Bob enjoyed watching live sports (and on TV), was a diehard Braves fan, enjoyed wine, country music, traveling and socializing with friends and family.
Robert is preceded in death by his father Otho Nicholas; his mother Lois Clark-Huntsman; his brother Richard Nicholas; and his grandson Seth Nicholas.
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years Jean Nicholas; son Jeff (Lisa) of Sarasota, FL; son Todd (Carey) of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; daughter Karen (Gale) of Avon, IN; son Patrick of Cumming, GA; son John (Kerry) of Fulshear, TX; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Greg Nicholas (nephew), Jacob Nicholas, James Morgan, Alex Boatright, Derek Nicholas (grandchildren), and Joshua Pruitt.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 pm, Sunday October 3, 2021 at Ingram Funeral Home located at 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm at Ingram, with the burial to follow immediately at Sawnee View Cemetery.
