Tuesday, August 10th , Robert Earl Waters, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away, ending his battle against Multiple Myeloma. Robert battled cancer over the last 6 years demonstrating the determination, bravery and personal faith that has characterized much of his life. Robert is survived by his younger sister, Donna Waters, his ever-adoring wife of 42 years, Paula Sims Waters, his children, Joshua Waters, Eron Cooper, and Jena Waters as well as his son-in-law, Christopher Cooper and grandchildren Cadence Lewis, Maddox Cooper, and Mara Cooper.
Robert was born on October 7, 1953 in Tifton Georgia to Otis and Lucile Waters. He graduated from Tift High School where he played football and began some of his life-long friendships. Robert attended Georgia Technical Institute and Mississippi State University where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He formerly worked in Cumming as the Southeastern Regional Manager of Tengo, Inc. Robert very much enjoyed quiet time casting his line into just about any lake, pond, stream or sea. He enjoyed reading and was a life-long learner. He did not shy away from meaningful or thought-provoking conversation. He enjoyed being an active member of Lake Lanier Crappie Club as well as the Atlanta Saltwater Sportsman's Club. He attended Browns Bridge Church and valued the close relationships he built through his small group. Robert was a sincere friend and a committed family man; constantly advising, encouraging and supporting those he cared for. Robert was a Christian whose quiet faith was put on display after his diagnosis with a terminal illness. Those close to him observed his deep faith in a good and omnipotent God and peace about his own mortality that surpasses understanding.
A Celebration of Life honoring Robert will be held Saturday, August 14, at 3:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
