Dr. Robert Fielding Green passed away in Cumming, GA on March 7, 2023. He was born on October 7, 1945 at St. Mary’s Hospital (Mayo’s) in Rochester, MN, to Dr. Marion F. Green and Geraldine Ottie Harrelson. He attended elementary school in Muleshoe, TX before moving to Clovis, NM and graduating from Clovis High School in 1964 where he enjoyed playing high school football. He attended Southern Methodist in Dallas for two years before transferring to the University of New Mexico. While in college he married Maureen Elaine Valdez on September 8, 1967. After graduating from UNM in 1968 he entered UNM School of Medicine, receiving his M.D. in 1972. Thereafter, he interned at Deaconess Hospital, Spokane, WA; served as a Flight Surgeon at March Air Force Base, CA; practiced medicine in Clovis, NM; completed a residency at UNM in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases; practiced Internal Medicine/Infectious Diseases in Las Cruces, NM until 1993. Robert and Maureen divorced in 1995. He moved to Rio Ranch, NM to he closer to Andrew for a few years before relocating to Cumming, GA to live close to Heidi.
He is predeceased by his parents and brother James E. Green, M.D. He is survived by his three children: Robin Solid (David) of Woodbury, MN, Heidi Najdek (George) of Cumming, GA, and Andrew F. Green (Jennifer) of Chesterfield, VA along with seven grandchildren: George, Devin, Trinity, Evan, Tatum, A.J. and Tyler as well as his brother William Green, M.D. Cremation has been completed. At his request, there will be no funeral or service.
