Robert Lee Burruss, of the Macedonia Community in Cherokee County, was born February 17, 1932, and passed away May 9, 2021.

A Deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cumming, Robert was a veteran of the United States Airforce. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was retired from the poultry industry and enjoyed golf and gardening.

Predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Wilma Lathem Carnes Burruss, as well as his son Donald Carnes and grandson Jeff Carnes, he is survived by sons Doug (Patty) Carnes and Jackie (Pat) Carnes, daughter Robin (Mitch) Mitchell, and daughter-in-law Carol Carnes. Additional survivors include ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by sister and brother-in-law Nellie and Lane Waldon and brother-in-law Larry Glass, along with several nieces and nephews. The family is indebted to special caregivers Ruth Porter and Cindy Wallace.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday May 12, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Richard and Rev. Ruel Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Robert's memory to Cherokee County Special Olympics, Attn: Virginia Elder, 400 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA 30188
