ROBERT MUSE THORBURN, 74 of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday April 30th, 2011 at Northside Hospital Forsyth.

He is survived by his loving wife Martha Sutton Thorburn; daughter Lydia Elizabeth Thorburn; son Robert (Lars) Lawrence Thorburn; daughter Laura Irene Thorburn-Gundlach, her husband David Thorburn-Gundlach; granddaughters Madison Ashley Thorburn-Gundlach & Quindlyn Olivia Thorburn-Gundlach; brother Hugh Steven Thorburn; sister Bette Lou Thorburn Perez.

Bob Thorburn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. The greatest times in his life were spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing at the beach with his family, going to Braves games and to the zoo with his granddaughters. His wife, Martha, was the love of his life. They met on a blind date and it was love at first sight. They worked together, they loved together, and they raised a wonderful loving family together. He brought Lydia, his eldest into the broadcasting industry with him. They worked together at the radio stations in Carrollton and then later the worked together in The Thorburn Company. He loved his daughter Laura's music. She wrote, sang, and played music while she was in school. He tried very hard to get her music heard by anyone in the music industry. He was very proud of her accomplishments in computer programming and in marrying a wonderful man David, Bob and David hit it off right away. Bob and David loved talking to each other about most anything and they both loved boating and the lake. Laura and David have two wonderful daughters Madison and Quindlyn, and they were the light of Bob's life. He tried to do everything he could with them. He really enjoyed taking each of them to dinner and a movie and just spending time with each of them. The sound of their laughter and giggling just made him smile. He loved just being around them. He loved going to his son's, Lars', musical gigs to hear his son sing, play the guitar, and the drums. He loved that his son is a rock climber and mountain climber and loved to hear his stories while ignoring the pit in his stomach and sweaty hands worrying about his son's safety. His son's dog Johan, the white German Sheppard, held a big place in Bob's heart., Johan was the little white puppy with big ears that couldn't figure out how to get off of the bed. Bob loved getting together with his extended family whenever he could. He loved going to his brothers house on Sundays after church when his kids were little so the cousins could play and he and Martha could catch up with Steve and Susie. He enjoyed hanging out with his wife's brothers. He really enjoyed going deep sea fishing with them. Bob's happiest times were with his family.

However, Bob loved broadcasting. He was a broadcaster in college at the University of Alabama and never stopped. He owned and operated radio stations in Alabama and Georgia. He worked for one of the biggest Media Brokerage firms in the country until he started his own Media Brokerage firm in The Thorburn Company. He won many awards in the broadcasting industry including Broadcaster of the Year, Station of the Year, and many more. He loved the radio industry. He loved bringing the community together for big promotional events through his radio stations. Bob's main hobby was his work, however other hobbies that made the list other than being with his family was magic, backgammon, poker, and playing with his pets.

Robert Muse Thorburn who loved and was loved a lot.
