Roger Lee Grimes

Roger Lee Grimes, age 73, of Forsyth County, passed away on October 14th, 2024. He was one of six children born to Nolan Grimes Sr. and Aline Glover Grimes. Roger was always an avid sportsman. He loved playing, coaching, and umpiring baseball and softball. He also refereed basketball. He especially loved coaching his children. Roger was considered the peacekeeper and did not like confrontations. He thought it was a waste of time. Spending time with his wife, son, daughter, his three amazing grandkids, and his three precious great grandkids was pure joy to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan Grimes Sr., Aline Glover Grimes, brother, Nolan Grimes Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cherrie Charles Grimes of Cumming; son, Joe (JJ) Grimes of Cumming; daughter, Lisa Marie Grimes of Dawsonville; 3 grandchildren, Lindsey (Mitchell) Abreu of Dahlonega, Nathan Grimes, Raegan Grimes of Cumming; 3 great grandchildren, Fletcher, Wylie Kate, and Hattie Abreu of Dahlonega; brothers, Calvin (Pat) Grimes of Cumming, James (Treena) Grimes of Canton, Tony (Theresa) Grimes of Alpharetta; sister, Martha (Kenneth) Tate of Pickens County; nieces, nephews, and other loving family.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 18th, 2024, at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Gilbert, Rev. Tim Davenport, and Rev. Jackie Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 17th, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, and again from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the Bank of the Ozarks in memory of Roger for his loving wife, Cherrie Grimes.
