Roger Lewis Henderson

Roger Lewis Henderson passed away on February 8, 2022, at the age of 69 years old. A lifelong resident and Forsyth county native, Roger graduated from Forsyth County High School in 1970. He dedicated his career to the US Postal Service, served in the US Army Reserves, and founded the Forsyth Beacon — the only locally owned newspaper publication in Forsyth County at that time.

He was an avid outdoorsman, invested years of his life into coaching youth athletics — both football and softball at the premier levels — and enjoyed helping others realize their potential and strive for excellence. He was most at peace enjoying the quiet beauty and nature of North Georgia and appreciated scenic drives into the mountains.

Roger is survived by daughters Tracie (Phillip) Gibbs of Dawsonville and Kelley (David) Lopez of Cumming; son Tyler Henderson of Orange Beach, Alabama; partner Shelia Henderson of Cumming; grandchildren Jordan Henderson, Emma Gibbs, Haylie Gibbs, Lewis Elve, Eliza Lopez, and Delilah Henderson; and great granddaughter Sawyer Henderson. He is also survived by sister Elizabeth Henderson Forbush and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The youngest of ten children, he has reunited with many missed family members. He is preceded in death by parents Thomas Watson Henderson and Belle Kelley Henderson; sisters Brenda Woodham, Barbara Sargent, Vivian Martin, and Velma Stickel; and brothers Jimmy Henderson, Hugh Henderson, Danny Henderson, and Larry Henderson.

Memorial services will be held Monday, February 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.

The family will receive visitors at Ingram Funeral Home on Sunday, February 13 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. until 7:00, and on Monday, February 14 in the hour prior to the service.
