Ronald Gustav Meyer

Energy never vanishes, it merely transitions from one form to another. The sweet and caring soul of our beloved son, brother, father, husband and friend, Ronald Gustav Meyer, transitioned on May 10, 2021 at 6:42PM EST.

If Ronald were to be explained as a mass of energy, he would be a star much brighter and stronger than those around him. He was a swirling mix of love, power, tenacity, intelligence, and compassion that lit up the life of everyone he touched, like light rays from a powerful sun. Ronald's love was even felt by 15 strangers who received his organs after his untimely death.

Ronald was soft-spoken and always funny at the right times, which made him extremely charming on top of his dashing good looks. He was always filled with joy even when he was struggling with his own demons.

To understand Ronald, one must understand the extremely tight bond he had with his mother, Julie, who passed away when he was only 15 years old. This tragic event would shape Ronald for the rest of his life.

As the youngest of five children, Ronald's father and siblings all stepped up to help raise him as best they could, while dealing with the severe loss of the family's matriarch themselves.

Raised in a house where individuality and independence were celebrated, Ronald shined. Renowned in his high school years for a midnight blue VW Golf, Ronald raced into many young hearts. He liked to live fast and dangerously while having as much fun as possible. Ronald was a kick-ass skateboarder. He was musical and could pick up almost any instrument and play it within a few minutes, although he chose to stick with drums and bass guitar for a while. Keeping him in one place for too long proved challenging and his talents far exceeded those of his interests. He quickly excelled as a Software Engineer after graduating from high school and college.

After a brief fling in high school, Ronald and Inge finally re-connected in 2002 as Inge returned to South Africa from a stint abroad working at the Animal Kingdom in Orlando, FL. Back home, Inge quickly eliminated the competition and claimed Ronald for herself -- a skill she acquired from watching the lionesses in the Kruger National Park where she grew up.

Ronald and Inge tied the knot on August 16, 2003 in Pretoria, South Africa, with an exquisite wedding starring a bridal couple that could have rocked Hollywood. The beautiful pair embarked on an exciting adventure together as Mr. and Mrs. Meyer.

On that day Ronald also gained a whole new family, including Inge's younger sister Lize, her father, Piet, and her mother, Karen, who would become his biggest cheerleader. Late in 2007 Piet was laid to rest and Ronald's bond with his new extended family would only grow stronger.

Earlier that year the two lovebirds decided to leave South Africa and migrate to the United States of America. There they landed in a place described by Ronald as a dazzling city of lights and non-stop excitement and entertainment -- Reno, Nevada. From there Ronald's love for America would only grow as he upped the ante and moved to San Francisco! That city would become only his second favorite to San Diego, where Ronald dreamed of retiring one day.

After many fun-filled years of working hard, playing hard and frequent traveling, Ronald and Inge decided to slow things down a little when they welcomed Julian Gustav Meyer into the world on January 21, 2013 in Boston, MA. Julian's sparkling blue eyes would capture them in a way that was unfathomable to both new parents. The love they felt for each other as a family and the beauty they were able to create together, elevated their already solid relationship to a higher level.

Continually excelling in their careers, Ronald and Inge finally settled in Cumming just outside Atlanta, GA. There they were blessed with a gorgeous little girl, Sabine Karen Meyer, on December 27, 2015. With her magical smile and larger than life personality she would manifest as one of Ronald's biggest challengers, a worthy opponent highly skilled in whit and artifice, his armor defenseless against her charm.

The couple moved into their dream home in 2019 and has been living in the community of Creekstone Estates ever since. Ronald and Inge became proud citizens of the United States of America in November 2019, achieving a giant personal milestone.

After Ronald's passing, neighbors, friends and colleagues have risen to the occasion of supporting Inge and her children during this extremely difficult time. Ronald was well-known and highly regarded in his community, not only as an amazing father and husband but also as a worthy opponent on the tennis court.

Ronald was born with the large lungs of a small elephant and could run a marathon without any grueling training or sacrifice and still be on the tennis court the next day with a huge grin and a fierce serve.

He will be missed by friends and family, but none will experience the loss like his two children, Julian and Sabine. They were the heartbeat of Ronald's world and he their hero and idol. It is because of them that Ronald found the strength to put his own hurt aside, dig deep, put in the work, and finally declare victory over his battle with alcoholism.

Ronald was in the best mental state of his life at the time of his transition. He had found peace in his heart and his place on this earth, with his wife and children.

May Ronald Gustav Meyer live forever in the people he touched, the memories he created and the children that will carry on his legacy.

Ronald leaves behind his wife, Inge, and his two children, Julian and Sabine, who will continue to live in Creekstone. Ronald is also survived by his father, Ronald, his sisters, Lizl and Ingrid, and his brothers, Gustav and Conrad. He also leaves behind a slew of friends around the world, who all felt like family.
