Ms. Rudean A. Mathis, age 86, of Forsyth County, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Northside Forsyth Hospital in Cumming, GA. Born in Forsyth County on February 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Lelia Mae Bagley and John Howard Anderson. Ms. Mathis was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, but in later years attended Brookwood Baptist Church until bad health prevented her from being with the church family she loved. She was a skillful housewife who diligently grew food in the garden for canning to last through the winter months, and a compassionate care provider who took care of her elderly mother-in-law and daughter, who had brain damage from a car accident. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Jean Hastings; along with seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include her loving husband of almost 69 years on June 14, 2016, Lenon Gershon Mathis; 4 children, Danny Charles Mathis and his wife, Janis Mathis; Teresa Ann McLaughlin and her husband, Patrick McLaughin; Marilyn Daine Cheek and her husband Greg Cheek; Sharon Lynn Parker and her husband, Steve Parker; 9 grandchildren, Kristie Kilgore, Michelle Wilson, Misty Small, Cherie Brannon, Doug Mathis, Gregory Dexter Cheek, Jr., Barry Parker, Cindy Austin, and Dane Blake Cheek; 9 Great grandchildren, Tyler, Cole and Gracie Wilson, Jacob and Kendal Mathis; Daniel and Danica Brannon; Presley and William Cheek; along with many other loving friends and relatives. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Nix and Pastor Danny Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at Cross Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and on Tuesday, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. Serving as active pallbearers will be Dexter Cheek, Doug Mathis, Jamie McLaughlin, Barry Parker, Brian Austin and Blake Cheek. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, GA is in charge of arrangements.
