Ruth Leigh Raines

Ruth Leigh Raines, age 93, of Cumming, GA passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022. She was born in 1929, to the late Joel and Bessie Bolton. Ruth was a charter member of Cumming Baptist Church and member of the Joy Sunday School Class. 

Founded in 1959, Ruth, along with her late husband C. Hewlett Raines, were the owners and operators of Gainesville Industrial Electric Co., where she remained actively involved until her brief illness.

Ruth’s faith in the Lord was exhibited through the kindness she always showed to others. She was friendly, generous, witty, humorous, and sharp as a tack for business. She was active in her community and church, an avid sports fan, and always one to give a compliment or a hug. Her love knew no bounds.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, C. Hewlett Raines; sister, Helen Satterfield and brother, J.B. Bolton; and grandson, Travis Edmondson.  

She is survived by her children, Larry & Michelle Raines, Lynn & Steve McClure; grandchildren Lora Raines, Bradley & Penny Raines, Ryan & Dixie McClure, Ali & Derrick Parker, Austin & Tina Edmondson; great grandchildren Hadley, Graham, Clay, Anniston, Maddyn, Luke, and Eric; brothers, Glen & Bettye Bolton, Charles & Glenda Bolton; sister-in-law, Alice Bolton, along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Cumming Baptist Church in Cumming, GA with Dr. Jamie Archer officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
