Ruth McKnight Scherer

Ruth McKnight Scherer, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away on February 21, 2025, surrounded by family. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, William “Mac” and Greyson McKnight, and her husband Jack Scherer.

Ruth was an avid reader, cook, dog-lover, and traveler, in addition to being a Life Master Bridge Player. She met her late husband, Jack, playing Bridge, and some of her happiest years were making memories with their blended family. Ruth was a dedicated employee of Delta Airlines for over 30 years, beginning her career in their reservations department and retiring as a lead computer programmer.

Over the span of her life, Ruth was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend - willing to do anything for the people she loved. But perhaps her favorite role was one of her last: Nana. Few things brought her as much joy as spending time with her grandchildren, watching them pursue their passions and interests, and bragging about them to her friends. Baseball games, softball games, dance recitals, and theater performances...Nana enjoyed every second as one of their biggest fans.

Ruth is survived by her sister Millie Weiner (Ken), brother Bill McKnight (Toni), daughters Julie Mileham (Chris) and Amanda Thrower (Randolph), and three grandchildren: Cora, Ada, and Davis Thrower.

The family will hold a visitation on Sunday, March 2nd at 1:00 P.M. at Ingram Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Ingram Chapel at 2:00 P.M.
