Samuel Sam Gordon, age 68 of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Gwinnett Medical Center.
Sam was actively involved in Boy Scouts serving as Scoutmaster for Troop 99 for many years. He was a dedicated member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and loved working with the youth and childrens group and taught Sunday school for years. He was active in the United Methodist Men. Sam was also active in the Navy and was a Free Mason. Above all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Nothing gave him greater joy in life than spending time with his family and being Granddaddy (G-Daddy). He loved the Lord, his family and friends.
Survivors include wife, Martha Gordon of Lawrenceville; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Brittany Gordon of Loganville; daughter, Beth Gordon of Lawrenceville; sisters, Elvie Cox of Arcadia, FL. and EfElda (Lylse) Ellis of Tampa, FL. Three grandchildren, Cody, Taylor and Bailey also survived.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 7, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, November 8, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the chapel at Bethesda United Methodist Church. The Funeral service will be in the sanctuary at Bethesda United Methodist Church at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Bethesda UMC for thechildrens fund, youth fund or the elevator fund. Bethesda UMC, 444 Bethesda Church Road, Lawrenceville, Ga. 30044.
