Sara N. Garrett, our family angel, passed peacefully on August 14, 2015. Sara was born on June 2, 1931, as the eighth child of eleven to Elizabeth Margaret and Ezra Wilson in Homer, Ga. Sara was happily married in 1978 to Harold Garrett whom she considered the love of her life. They spent many happy times and years boating through the countries waterways including trips to the Bahama Islands. Sara was a high school sports star lettering in basketball. She always had a thirst for knowledge and pushed her children and grand-children to seek higher education. She took college courses, most recently at Lanier Technical College. Sara was blessed with seven children from a previous marriage and has five surviving; Debbie Evans, Anthony Johnson, Sue (Mel) Mitchell, Earl (Brenda) Johnson and Eric (Donna) Johnson. Sara is also survived by sisters' Betty, Lucy, and brother Robert. Sara had 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren Sara was preceded in death by Harold, her daughters Rhonda and Patricia, her parents, brother's James, Jack, Swayne, Charles, and Fred, sisters Helen and Margaret. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 16, from 2 PM - 5 PM at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040. Funeral services will be on Monday at 11:00 AM at Ingram Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Greenville S.C. In lieu of flowers please donate to Alzheimer's research, Shriner's Hospital or plant a food producing memory tree or bush, like blueberries or a peach or pecan tree, or a tree/bush of your choosing.
