Sarah Ruth Purcell, age 95, of Cumming, Ga., passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010. She was the oldest member of the Cross Plains Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for about 50 years. She was also Clerk of the church for several years. Ruth loved her kids, grandkids and daughters-in-law. She is preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Purcell and her granddaughter Cindy Purcell Dressler. Survivors include her children, Jerry, Sr. and Jenny Purcell of Snellville, James and Betty Purcell of Ball Ground, Michael and Genie Purcell of Monroe and Rev. Johnny and Wanda Purcell of Cumming; grandchildren, Kathi and Gary Girard of Tucker, Jerry Skip Purcell Jr. of Snellville, Jennifer and Roderick Hames of Lawrenceville, Andy and Michelle Whitt of Gillsville, Maggie and Brett Barton of Monroe, Denny Purcell Rutledge, Matt and Kim Gunnin of Covington, Pam Holloway of Dacula, Kerrie and Chris Brooks of Cumming, and Kevin Purcell of Cumming; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives survive. Funeral Services will be Friday, October 15, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Cross Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Skinner, Rev. Clyde Boling, Rev. Charles Dispain, and Rev. Richard Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Cross Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
