Shirley Jean Reid

Shirley Jean (Elrod) Reid, born July 22, 1935 in the Settingdown Community of Cumming, GA, passed in peace after an extended illness on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 with her family by her side. She was a home maker and longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill & Ina (Cook) Elrod; parents -in-law, Clifford and Viola (Bryant) Reid; brother, Robert Elrod; sister-in-law, Martha (Reid) Brisco; sister and brother-in-law, Margie (Reid) and Weldon Monroe; son, Bruce Dow Reid; son-in-law, George E. Perkins, Jr. Survivors include her dedicated, loving, and devoted husband of 60 years, Loy Dow Reid; daughter, Donna Reid Perkins; sons and daughters-in-law, Rickie and Carla (Duke) Reid, Anthony (Tony) and Kim (Bennett) Reid; brother and sister-in-law, Marcus (Buster) and Sue (Morgan) Elrod; brother, Randall Elrod; sister, Barbara Elrod; sister-in-law, Madge (Reid) Corbin; brother and sister-in-law, Juas and Ozzie (Majors) Reid; grandchildren, Thomas Daniel Henderson and family, Chance Reid, Destini Reid, Jared Reid, Kendall Reid, Chevy (Reid) and Jonathon Roper and her mother, Elaine Reid, Katherine Perkins, Lucina (Perkins) and Michael Retzer; great grandchildren, Caitlin Nichole Henderson, Cody and Skylar Roper; other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 22nd at 6:00 pm at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens with Rev. L. C. Bennett and Rev. Travis Bridgeman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am until 5:30 pm.
