Sidney Shiver Barfield

Sidney Shiver Barfield, age 86, of Cumming, GA, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022. He was born in 1936, to the late Sidney Clayton and Magolene Shiver Barfield. Sid was a Past Master at the Lafayette Lodge F&AM #44 and a Shriner. For years he owned and operated Barfield Auto Parts in Cumming, GA. He later worked as a Real Estate Agent and then became a School Bus Monitor for special needs children here in Forsyth County. Sid was a member of Cumming Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Financial Chairman, a faithful choir member and the church attendance keeper. He was a United States Airforce veteran. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janette Barfield; and sister, Laquita Castleberry.

He is survived by his children, Stacey Barfield (Rick) Posey, Stephanie Alane (Gary) Holton, Tameir Powell-Lichtenberg (Terry Lichtenberg), and Darice Barfield (Dan) Stein; grandchildren, Cassandra Lynn-Alane (Will) Illg, Jacob Baker, Samantha “Sami” Posey, Ellen Reece Jones, and Maggie Shiver; great grandchild, Beckett Illg; along with many other loving relatvies and friends.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 27, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Cumming Baptist Church in Cumming, GA with Dr. Jamie Archer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cumming Baptist Church in memory of Sid Barfield.
