Silvia Garcia Rodriguez, 46, passed away on May 8 at Embracing Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Raised in the Chicago suburb of Palatine, she recently moved to the Atlanta area to find comfort in the home of her dedicated sister, Esmeralda. Though cancer had taken its toll on her physically, she remained positive until the end. Her love of arts and crafts helped carry her through the past few difficult months since her diagnosis and she could often be found creating her latest masterpiece, such as her famous coffee-filter lampshade. A hard-working mom who relished her role in retail sales, she is survived by her children: Vanessa Nevarez (26), Aaliyah Nevarez (17), Lucas Ambrose (15), Jesseka Rodriguez (14), Isabella Bauelos (7), and stepdaughter Carol Bauelos (26). She is also survived by her beautiful granddaughters, Yazlyn (Vanessa), Ruby (Vanessa), Jazmin (Carol) and Ariana (Carol). She is preceded in death by her parents, Epimenio Garcia, Jr. and Nicolasa Guadalupe, and her brother, Estban. Many caring siblings survive: Reynaldo (Natividad), Candelaria, Vincente (Guadalupe), Roberto (Marilyn), Yolanda (Arturo), Juanita (John), Maria, Victoria (Kenneth), Esmeralda and her sister in-law Carmen (widow of Esteban) , as well as numerous nieces and nephews including her most beloved, Rudy Garcia (son of Victoria). Her daughters have requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Silvias name. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 11 at Byars Funeral Home in Cumming from 1:00-6:00 p.m. with a service at 5:00 p.m.
