Stan Guinn Leamon, 56, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on August 1, 2024. Stan was a loving father, partner, son, and brother, who lived life to the fullest and influenced the lives of many who crossed his path.
Stan was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to parents Edgar Guinn Leamon and Beth Grant Leamon on February 24, 1968. He has resided and worked for the past 18 years in Cumming Georgia as a band instrument repair technician. From an early age Stan was influenced by two things: the musicianship of his father and the love of all things with wheels and motors, as well as the need to go fast. Motivated by his love for jazz music and especially the tenor saxophone greats of history, Stan chose a profession to highlight his mechanical and creative abilities. He was a true craftsman and could take the most severely damaged band instruments and give them newlife. He also had a natural gift for teaching and mentoring young men and passing his vast knowledge to the next generation.
Stan’s favorite things in life were spending time with his family, as well as going to the beach and mountains with his beloved dogs Hans, Murphy, and Josey, and riding his motorcycle. He also very much enjoyed to watch his “boys” play music, and most especially loved spending “Pops time” with granddaughter Birdie riding and driving the 4-wheeler.
Stan is preceded in death by his father Ed and grandparents Guinn and Grant, as well as his special dogs Beasley, Peanut, and Tugg. He is survived by his beloved daughter Megan, partner Kitsey, Fischer sons, Max, Glenn and wife Katherine of Cumming, Paul and wife Eleanor and special granddaughter Birdie, of Columbia, SC. Also survived by mother Beth Nelson, brother Scott and wife Ellen of Chattanooga, TN, sister Shelly and husband Alan Fryman of Florida, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Survived also by special friend Bryan Jones and wife Tina of Chattanooga, Megan’s mother Cindy, and step-daughters Crystal Crittenden and Brandy MacFie. Stan also leaves behind many friends and music business acquaintances inChattanooga and his music family at Ponce De Leon Music Center in Cumming.
Stan’s spirit of compassion and generosity will live on helping others through organ and tissue donation. His family, through an unexpected tragedy, have been given the opportunity to provide hope to other families in need.
Memorial services are planned for a later date in both Cumming and Chattanooga. Please make donations in Stan’s name to St. Jude Research Hospital for Children or to the Forsyth County Humane Society.
