Stephen A. Joyner

Stephen A. Joyner, age 85, died on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in Cumming, Georgia. Steve was raised in Valdosta, Georgia and was salutatorian of Valdosta High Schools class of 1942. He was among the first male students to attend Valdosta State University. Steve served as a Navy medic during WWII. He married Eleanor Tompkins in 1947. He had a successful career as a salesman, was an accomplished public speaker and served many years as a Baptist deacon. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, son Alec Joyner and wife Nancy, daughters, Loette Kump and husband Jim, Pam Avery and husband Kenneth, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Sunday, March 6th at 4:00 pm at North Lanier Baptist Church, 829 Atlanta Road, Cumming, Georgia 30040, with Rev. Hutch Matteson and Chaplain Jack Kennington officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service. Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
