Stevie Bernard McWright

Stevie Bernard McWright entered this life on February 19, 1964. He was born sixth of eight siblings to the union of Freddie Joe McWright and Myrtis Oliver McWright. Steve's mother passed when he was 12 years old and his grandparents Jack & Beatrice Oliver, his first queen, lovingly raised him. Steve said around that time he began to say and do funny things to keep from being sad and he realized he had a gift to make his grandmother and those around him laugh. He would use his gift often over the years! Both of his grandparents preceded him in death

Stevie was seventeen years old when he met Coretta Alexander, literally on the playground in 1982. They moved to California and were married in April 1989 and their family grew to four wonderful children. In 2005, at sixteen, their beloved son Brian went home to be with the Lord. The same year, the Lord led them to the Atlanta, Georgia area, where he remained until his passing. He was a loving provider and protector over his family, their superman!

If you have ever met and gotten to know Steve, you will always remember him. He often said that his ministry was not in a formal church setting, it was wherever his feet tread. He has left an imprint on countless lives with his kindness, how he sincerely cared for people, and of course his humor.

He leaves to deeply mourn, but joyfully celebrate his beautiful life and memories: His one spirit, one flesh, Coretta McWright, His sons Steven Martel McWright (Tonya) and Casey McWright (One day very soon Aaliyah), His daughter Shantell Divine (Sidney), his grandchildren Alyssa, Brian, Makayla, Ava, and Luke.

His father, Freddie Joe McWright of Winnfield, LA, Four brothers; Freddie Wayne McWright (Linda), Lancaster, CA., Rickey Layne McWright, Winnfield, LA., Gregory Earl McWright (Ana), Friendswood, TX., and Reginald Joe McWright, Rosamond, CA.; Three sisters, Kathy McWright Brown, Houston, TX., Carla Mitchell Petrie, Memphis, TN, Karen McWright Guillory (Amos), Winnfield, LA., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
