Sue Carlene Smith

Sue Carlene Smith of Covington, GA (formerly Cumming GA) passed away peacefully on September 12th, 2022 at the age of 83.   She resided in Memory Care @ Oaks of Ashton Hills the past 4 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle Hobbs Smith and Rev. Richard Hamilton Smith along with siblings OscarSmith, Louise Farrill, Addie Lee Nuckolls, Virginia Purcell, Margaret Eller, James P Smith, Arthur Smith, Gladys Taylor, and Helen Mote.   She is survived by her brother, William R Smith of Jackson, GA, and several nieces and nephews.  

Carlene was the youngest of 11 children.    She began her work career at age 15 in banking at the Atlanta Clearing House (later First National Bank, Wachovia Bank and Wells Fargo Bank).   After retirement in 1995 , she enjoyed travelling and spending time with friends and family.   She loved her home in Cumming, was a busy, independent lady until Lewy Body dementia was diagnosed.  

She was the “fun aunt”, a kind and generous sister to her siblings.  She was the caregiver in the family who took good care of her parents for many years.  At the end of her life, was surrounded with wonderful care from family and nurses as she deserved.  

A service honoring Carlene’s life will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ken Smith, nephew,officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA   The family will welcome guests prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. 

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Logan Smith Ministries, P.O Box 11603; Murfeesboro, TN  37129. 

Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040 has been entrusted with Mrs. Smith’s final arrangements
