Thomas A. Vizzini also known as Tom and Tommy, age 80, passed away on Monday, May 8th at his home in Gainesville, GA. He was born to Sam and Jane Vizzini in Cincinnati, OH and was raised in Oakmont, PA. After many years of attending night school while raising a family, in 1965 Tom received his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He lived in Pittsburgh, New Jersey, and Hawaii before finally settling in Atlanta in 1973. Tom worked as an engineer building tools and nuclear plants for many years. He moved to Atlanta to work as an engineer for Westinghouse. After leaving engineering, he had a varied background working as a real estate agent and broker, landlord, and small business owner/florist. After selling his floral business in 1997 and a short attempt at retirement, he went back into the workforce to work as an office manager and remained in that career until illness caused his full retirement in 2016. Tom was a lifelong tinkerer and fixer always putting his engineering skills to use whether it was to renovate homes, fix a vacuum cleaner or another large or small item around the house. He prided himself in being able to build or do almost anything. Tom met the love of his life, BevAnn Bonds, in 1993 and married her in 1998. They were married for 19 years. Tom is survived by his wife BevAnn Bonds; children and their significant others Tom Vizzini and Kim McFarland (Cumming, GA), Greg Vizzini and Todd Edge (Norcross, GA), Jeff Vizzini (Cumming, GA), Chris Vizzini (Atlanta, GA), Samantha Vizzini, MD, and Meredith Vizzini; siblings and their spouses, Sara and Dave Thon (Oakmont, PA) and Ross and Rose Vizzini (Library, PA); granddaughter and her husband, Kayla and Thatcher Helton (Richmond Hill, GA); great-grandchildren Knox and Riley Helton (Richmond Hill, GA); mother-in-law Martha Bonds; sister-in-law Tammie Fronczak; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Jane Vizzini; sister Rosemary Vizzini; and daughter-in-law Sherri Vizzini. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, June 11th at 1pm which is to be held at Tom and BevAnn's home in Gainesville, GA. There will also be a service for family and friends in Oakmont, PA. The date has yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Good News Clinic Gainesville, GA or your favorite charity.
