Thomas Ray Litterer "Perseverance, Resilience, Adaptability..."
Tom Litterer of Cumming, Georgia, passed away on August 21st, 2021 from covid-19 complications. He was 87 years old.
Tom was born on November 21st, 1933 in Richmond, Virginia. He was the youngest of five children with two brothers and two sisters. When his father passed away at early age, his mother made the difficult decision to put the three brothers in an orphanage while raising the two sisters on her own. He left the orphanage at age 18 to attend Randolph-Macon College in Richmond, Va. He was one of only three children to earn a scholarship from the orphanage. There, he excelled in football, track, and tennis and majored in Psychology.
He eventually made his way to Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife Barbara. He raised his family of two boys, Eric and Mark on a lake in a suburb of Minneapolis. He and his business partner started a very successful recruiting firm-Management Assistance. His success allowed him to retire at 55, giving Tom and Barb many years of travel and leisure.
Tom loved the outdoors-camping and fishing in the summer, hunting in the winter. He was also an accomplished tennis player and an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Eric and his wife Barbara. He is survived by his son, Mark, daughter-in-law Beth, and grandchildren Mark Jr, Madeline, Morgan and Lindsey.
