Caroline Cole Gordy (Tony), 80, of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Born and raised in Atlanta, Mrs. Gordy graduated from The Westminster School in 1956 and attended The University of Georgia. She moved to Columbus, GA in 1960 where she raised her 5 children. Mrs. Gordy retired from the Muscogee County School System with more than twenty years of service. Caroline enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlework, reading, and, of course, list making, but primarily dedicated her life, as a single mother, to her children. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her immense joy and happiness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Boynton and Caroline Hammond Cole.

Survivors include her children, George Burnside Gordy, III (Nancy), Julia Gordy Young (John), Caroline Gordy (Muffy) Schladensky (Fred), Thomas Tillman Gordy (Anna), and Martha Gordy Mockaitis (Frank). Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chris Gordy, Drew Milner, Cole Milner, Shep Milner, Best Kennedy, Bask Kennedy, Jack Young, and Will Young; great grandchildren, Bailey Gordy, Finn Milner, Cassie Sabio, and Blake Gordy.

Services will be graveside Thursday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5025 Atlanta Highway, Alpharetta, GA 30004 with Rev. Jennie Andone officiating.

Friends and family will gather at her lakehouse for a reception following the service.

At Carolines request, please omit flowers and consider contributions to Midway United Methodist Church, AFLAC Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta, or the Julie and John Young Research Fund at UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
