Trudy (Gertrude Phillis) Beary, born August 25, 1921 in Tescott, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home at Dogwood Forest Assisted Living in Cumming, Georgia on December 6, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Kermit Edwin Beary. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Bernard Larson and Neva Darling Lambertson. Trudy grew up on a farm and attended Kansas State University. During WW II, she worked as a technician at an ordinance plant supporting the war effort. Her husband, Lt. Col. Kermit Beary, was in the Air Force and they relocated often. In the fifties, they were stationed in Japan, where Trudy was instrumental in establishing the Girl Scouts. Trudy and Kermit had a passion for boating and sailed extensively. In retirement, they traveled the country in their motor home. Her hobbies included genealogy, sewing, knitting, crocheting, bowling, needlepoint, gardening and bridge. In later years, she was an avid bingo player and loved putting jigsaw puzzles together. She is survived by her brother, Oscar Larson of Tescott, Kansas, daughters, Thais Haines, (husband Skip) of Albuquerque, NM, Donna Rae (husband Lloyd) of Brooklyn, NY and Terry Huddle (husband Bill) of Cumming, GA. Her grandchildren include Tom Duffey, Paige Harford, Jennifer Lampell, Mina Broughton, Michael Lampell, Aaron Lampell, Chris Huddle, Matt Huddle, Andy Huddle, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a small family memorial service at the home of her daughter. Donations may be made to the Tescott Museum and sent to Carol Christian, P.O. Box 152, Tescott, KS, 67484, in memory of Trudy. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made at www.ingramfuneralhome.com.
