Vaughn Durrell Martin was born on August 31, 1946 to Katherine Sue Martin and Lawrence Leigh Martin in Oakridge, Tennessee.  His father built radio stations throughout southern USA and around the world and sometimes he worked with him because that was one of his passions, the communications.  He graduated from Indiana University as a journalist.  His mother was a housewife.

Vaughn wanted to be a professional baseball player, he was very good at math and science too, and this allowed him to take an alternate course of action in his life.  After he graduated from Purdue University in Indiana as an Electrical Engineer, He became a technical writer, he wrote more than 500 magazine articles and 7 books.

He joined the Department Of Defense, Air Force in 1982 and retired in 2019 with honors after a brilliant career as head of the engineering department based in Warner Robins, Ga. at Robins Air Force Base.  Previously he worked at Kelly Base located in San Antonio, Texas.

He traveled around the world, he spoke English, Swedish and Spanish fluently.

In his sixties finally he found the love of his life, he traveled to South America, specifically Peru, To meet the love of his life, he was impresed about her and decided to marry her on his birthday some months after he met her.  Cecilia was his soul mate and the woman that he really loved.  Cecilia will miss him profoundly.

Rest in peace Vaughn. Your memories will last forever with the people that knew you, specially your stepchildren, Vanessa, and Alonso, Your beautiful grandson, Liam and your son-in-law, Eric.  Vaughn also is survived by his mother Katherine that is 99 years old and his eldest brother Allen.
