Victor Joel Robertson went to his heavenly home in the early hours of Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at his Cumming, Ga residence of Natural Causes, he was 79. Awaiting him is his father, Robie Namond Robertson (Jack), his mother, Virginia Pearl Colwell Robertson and his older brother, Jack Darnell Robertson.
Joel Robertson was born on March 26th, 1942 in Griffin, GA. He met the love of his life Janet Leona Glisson and the two married in 1967 at Rehobeth Baptist Church. Out of that marriage came two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Robertson (Baggett) and Vanessa Lynn Robertson (Algiere).
Joel began his career in the food industry at the ripe age of 15. He began his journey as a bag boy at A&P in his hometown. He moved up the ranks first becoming a Produce Manager, then finally a Store Manager. Joel attended the second love of his life, The University of Alabama. Moving on to bigger and better things, he began a long and loyal career of 21 years with McCormick and Co. There he gained the role of Regional Sales Manager where he managed 207 employees in 19 states. Joel would then work for a food brokerage in Atlanta, Christian and Associates. Once he left that company in 1986, he decided to build his own company. He created his produce brokerage, The Produce Connection, starting with only one line. His hard work, perseverance and ability connect to people grew his business into a successful company representing hundreds of lines. Joel passed still working hard and passionately.
Joel was a man of many passions his family and work being the closest to his heart but anyone that knew him knew his love of Alabama Football. Every football game he could be found curled up somewhere with his beloved cat, Bear, wearing his lucky Alabama hat cheering them on. He also had a passion for cars and many weekends could be found at car shows and car dealers. He and his wife Janet attended Johns Creek Baptist Church.
Joel's memory and legacy will live on in his wife, Janet Leona Robertson; his daughters, Kimberly Dawn Baggett and her spouse David Baggett; Vanessa Robertson Algiere and Jim Algiere all of Cumming, Ga; his three grandchildren Austin Robertson, Michael Baggett and Joshua Baggett; as well as many close friends and family including his cat, Bear. Joel was a man that anyone who met him will not soon forget him. He lived a good life surrounded by people who loved him.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 9, at 10:00 a.m. at Sawnee View Gardens with Dr. Michael McCullar officiating. The Service can be seen at https://youtu.be/Y5AFGB38gZk
