Vivian Marlene Martinez, 80, loving wife and mother, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at home. Mrs. Martinez was born Oak Park, Illinois on August 24, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Vern Slemmons and Ruth Slemmons Awe of Elkhart, IN and was preceded in death by her twin sister Verlee Lunsford and younger sister Karen Deak.
Raised in a mid-West culture, she shocked all marrying, Antonio C. Martinez (husband of 55 years). They combined diverse backgrounds to create a loving family consisting of children Rick Martinez of Tuckasegee, NC, son David Martinez (Anne) of Acworth, GA and daughter Rebecca Bath (David) of Cumming, GA. And Grandchildren Garrett Martinez (17), Spencer Scheu (16), Gavin Scheu (13) and Olivia Bath (12).
Vivian enjoyed overseas travel, survived 5 moves and was devoted to Tonys career with Coca-Cola and she retired from Emory University Health Clinic. She mastered crafts like stained glass and glazed ceramics which were gifts to friends and family and thoroughly enjoyed her Empty Nesters functions,Trivia and Canasta.
Funeral arrangements are through Ingram Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on July 26th immediately followed by service in the Chapel. Internment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, on July 27th for family only.
