WALTER HAROLD GREEN
Walter Harold Green, known as Harold to family and
friends, passed away Saturday, December 17th, 2011 at
Embracing Hospice in Cumming. Born March 10, 1928 in
Temple, GA, Harold lived on Lake Lanier in Cumming, GA
since the 1970s. An avid fisherman, sailor, gardener and
tennis player, Harold retired from GoldKist as Manager of
NPK and Terminals for the fertilizer and chemical division.
At the time of his retirement, he had 45 years of service,
more than any other Gold Kist employee.
Harold was the devoted husband of Mildred Carter Green
of Adel Georgia for nearly 63 years, and she survives him.
His sons, H. Michael Green of Emerson, GA, and Joe C.
Green of Marietta, GA also survive him, along with their
granddaughter, Amy Green. His sister Florence Green, of
Lake Panasoffkee, Florida, and brother Bill Green, of
Temple, GA, also survive, along with two nephews and
two great nieces.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Tuesday,
December 20th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Byars Funeral
Home in Cumming. His funeral service will be held at First
United Methodist Church in Cumming, GA, at 2:00 on
Wednesday, December 21st.
