Wanda Dolores Martin

Wanda Martin passed away peacefully to be with God on August 22, 2011. She was surrounded and comforted by loved ones at the time of her passing to Heaven. Wanda was born on March 15, 1921

Wanda had a zest for life and was always eager for new adventures. She was very creative, had varied interests, and engaged in many different hobbies throughout her active life. Wanda was an avid cook and baker, and was especially known for her lemon fruitcake. In addition to her culinary interests, she was passionate about playing golf and supporting her favorite sports team, The Braves. Wanda was a former president of the local chapter for the Visually Impaired. Under her direction, she coordinated a bake sale for visually impaired youth. Wanda contributed many of her cakes to the bake sale resulting in raising $2200. Quite a feat for an 88 year old woman! Wanda cherished and appreciated her family. More importantly, Wanda had a deep and abiding faith in God. Her concern for others led her to pray for her four daughters daily as well as her many friends.

Wanda is survived by four daughters: Penny MGuinn and husband Bob of Athens, GA; Rebecca Martin of Cumming, GA; Amie Washburn and husband Jeff of Lewis Center, OH; and Billie Breeden and husband Bruce of Asheville, NC. In addition to her daughters, Wanda is survived by three granddaughters, Shaun McGuinn, Leslie McGuinn and Brittany Washburn.

She and her husband lived in Davis West Virginia . She was prededed in death by her husband of 63 years, William Leon Martin. They lived in a variety of locations including Louisville, KY, Oak Park IL, Rye, NY and Summit and Upper Saddle River NJ before retiring to Gainesville in 1986.
