Welby Corbett Rouse, Jr. passed away peacefully on October 25, 2019 inCumming, Georgianear Atlantawhere he had lived for the past 40 years. He was born in Greenville, S.C. on May 31, 1942. He wasprecededin deathby his parents, NadiaElizabeth(Grainger)and Welby Corbett Rouse, and his brother,Jimmy Rouse. He is survived by his brother, Tom Rouseand hissister, Doris Rouse. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephewsand other family and friends.
Corby grew up inGreensboro, N.C.,graduatingfromGreensboro Senior HighSchool in1960.He received a B.A. in English Literature from Duke Universityin 1964and anMBAat UNC-G.
Heenjoyedplaying on junior baseball, football and basketball teamsin his youthandlaterplaying trumpet in his high school orchestra.He had a lifelong love of classical musicand was an avid reader of all genres fromclassic novels tomysteries to poetry-fromThomas Wolfe toEllery Queen toKeats. Corby was anenthusiasticfan of Duke basketball.
Corbys careerfocused on adapting software systems to support a range of applications fromfinanceto epidemiology. He traveled internationally in his work as a manager for several software firms.Corby retiredinCumming, Georgia in 2007.
He will be interred at theRousefamily plot in Forest Lawn Cemetery,Greensboro, N.C.in a private ceremony.
