Ingram Funeral Home announces the death of William E. (Bill) Bagwell of Gainesville on Monday, December 31, 2018. Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Marie. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ada Bagwell; his brother, Arthur Bagwell; and his sister, Clara Nell Bagwell.
Bill was born October 4, 1929. He graduated from Chestatee School and was employed by Chevron Oil in Atlanta for 35 years. After retirement, he enjoyed farming, riding his tractor, and sitting on the front porch with Nana and Pepper, his dog. Bill was a member and Deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Papa will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his 3 children, Debbie (Mike) Fowler, Gwen (Ron) Stover, and Darryl (Laura) Bagwell. His is also survived by his grandchildren, Meredith Edwards, Laura Graham, Kate Campbell, Isaac Bagwell, Jacob Bagwell, Peggy Blackwell, David Stover, and Janice Vaughan; and a daughter-in-law, Amelia (Pat) Wolfer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Hardy and Rev. Troy Milford officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge all of the wonderful caregivers who made it possible for Papa to remain at home during his last days. Those people are Gail Gray, Glenda Roberson, Jeanette Nichols, Donna Cape, Sheila Ash, Faith Dinges, Mary Pritchett, and Mary Rey.
Also, special thanks to Homestead Hospice for the excellent care and support they provided during Papas last days.
