William John Fagan, III

William John Fagan, III, a lifelong resident of Forsyth County, died unexpectedly on May 19, 2021 at the age of 23. Will loved the Lord, and his faith in God was unwavering. He became a member of Brookwood Baptist Church after accepting Jesus into his heart at a young age. Will was just as happy to share his testimony and faith as he was to talk about farming.

Will was the seventh-generation Fagan to farm his family's land in South Forsyth. He was on a tractor before he could walk or talk and was happiest working in the hay field. He loved the land and being a part of Fagan Farms with his father, Bill and brother, Caleb.

He was a 2016 graduate of South Forsyth High School and a 2021 graduate of the University of North Georgia with a B.B.A. Degree in Management. Will was a treasured employee of Mathis Grading, the business started by his grandfather, Terry Mathis, and he was actively learning the family business. Will grew up at Mathis Grading and was often by Terry's side, especially working together on Pop's racecar. He was a resilient young man with an amazing work ethic.

Known for his easy-going attitude, Will was big and strong in stature with a gentle heart and hand. He lived every bit of his years to the fullest. From learning to drive quarter midgets at age 6 to starting a landscaping business at 15 to travelling every chance he got, Will lived big. He loved music. Whether singing in the church choir or while hauling hay in his Kenworth, music was ever-present in Will's life.

In 2018, Will met the love of his life, Kayla, and the two of them were inseparable from the start. Kayla would often ride with Will in his tractor at the hay farm and Will would say, "I love farming best with my girl by my side." They were engaged in September 2020 and were planning an August wedding.

Will is survived by his parents, Bill and Deana Fagan; his brother, Caleb Fagan; his fiancée, Kayla Southers; his grandparents, Terry and Kathy Mathis; his great-grandparents, Bob Buice and Mary Mathis; his aunts and uncles, Ken and Martha Quintana, Kelly and Stephanie Mathis, and Julie Gayle; his cousins, Zach Quintana, Haley Quintana, Cody Gayle and Stella Mathis and many more extended family members. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Junie Fagan, Sr.; and his great-grandparents, William Mathis and Kathryn Buice.
