William Lloyd (Bill) Hartman, age 89, of Cumming, GA, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012. Bill studied at the Atlanta Boys School, was Chaplain of the American Legion, a founding father of the Sons of the American Legion, member of the Moose Lodge, a Boy Scout leader, a Cub Scout leader, a member of the American Bicycle League, a Dental Tech and a Pharmacist 2nd Class in the Navy, organized the construction of the Valedrome bicycle track in East Point, GA, was a member of the Senior Citizens Volunteers and was honored by President George W. Bush as the Senior Citizen Volunteer of the year. Bill was also a member of the Cumming First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his loving wife, Nina C. Hartman; children, Greg (Kraut) Hartman, Angie Jones, Toni McKnight and husband Bill, Carol (Cutie) McAboy; grandchildren, Ryan (Laura) Jones, Shane (Stephanie) Hartman; great granddaughter, Dakotah Hartman. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2:15 p.m. at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Cromartie, officiating. A memorial service and reception will follow at Cumming First United Methodist Church.
