Sara Winola Wood, age 83, of Forsyth County, GA, departed this life on Saturday, July 6, 2019 while in extended hospice care. Winola was born on July 4, 1936 to L.T. and Mozelle (Sewell) Floyd. She is preceeded in death by both parents, her husband, Fred Wood, and her brother, Jack Floyd.

Winola was a talented decorative artist and a member of many art groups for the past forty years. She was a member of the Dogwood Chapter of Decorative Arts, Sawnee Arts Association, MIDA, and the Cumming Ladies. While a member of the Cumming Ladies, she participated in the painting of a wall mural in the Cumming Senior Citizens Building. Over the many years as a member of the Dogwood Chapter, she participated in painting decorative Christmas ornaments for Senator Sam Nunns personal office Christmas tree in Washington, D.C. and the White House Christmas trees during the presidency of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. She was invited to the White House, along with her Dogwood Chapter friends, to view their ornaments on the Christmas trees. Winola has decorative Christmas ornaments in the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Institute.

Winola is survived by her daughter, Carol (Doug) Turner; grandson, Daniel Sneed; sister, Maryjane (Jimmy) Summerour; nephew, Jason (Ericka) Summerour, and numerous cousins and friends.

Visitation will beheld atIngram Funeral Home, Cumming, GA on Wednesday,July 10, 2019from 4:00to 7:00 pm and Thursday,July 11, 2019from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. The funeral service will be at 11:00 amin the chapel ofIngram Funeral Homewith Chaplain Betty Ewing officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 5210 Pisgah Rd, Cumming, GA 30028
