Winton Benard Pafford, 93, Dawsonville, GA, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-
grandfather passed away on August 25, 2017. He was born on June 17, 1924 on the family farm near
Celina, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank W. and Mary O'Neal Pafford; brothers,
Wesley Pafford, Jimmy Pafford, John Pafford, Norman Pafford, Lewis Pafford, and Lyn Pafford; sister,
Donna Mullinghouse; grandson Zachary Pafford and step granddaughter Jamie Brown Gomez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Marge; his daughter, Beth Lee (Ron); his sons, Joel
Pafford (Joelyn) and Patrick Pafford (Gloria); 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchilden; step children,
Kate Brown (Clint), Jim Ford (Linda), and Dave Ford (Kim), 10 step grandchildren and 14 step great-
grandchildren.
Winton (Paff) graduated Celina High School in 1941. He honorably served in the Navy during WWII
(1941-1946) and the Naval Reserves (1946-1956). He attended the University of New Mexico,
graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He then applied his education at
Sandia National Laboratories where he worked for 31 ½ years.
In 1987 Paff and Marge settled in Georgia to enjoy their retirement years. They traveled to visit
family and friends and went on cruises and train rides. Paff studied the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses
and was baptized in 1991. He and Marge shared in the voluntary ministry to help others learn about
the Bible.
Paff was an avid fisherman and gardener, loved coaching and umpiring Little League baseball, and
enjoyed watching Lobo and Cowboy football games. He was a lifelong learner and relished debating
family, friends and acquaintances on a variety of topics.
Paff was loved by everyone who knew him-- he enjoyed a life well-lived.
